658km, Yoko no Tabi (2024)

Yoko, a 42-year-old single woman, has lost her sense of direction in life, stuck in a rut as a freeter in Tokyo. Her hometown, Hirosaki in Aomori prefecture, holds a bittersweet memory for her. Twenty years had passed since she last spoke to her father, who had once vehemently opposed her dreams. The news of his passing shook her to the core, and she reluctantly decides to attend his funeral. Joining her is her cousin Shigeru and his family, who embark on a journey to Hirosaki. Along the way, a chaotic stop at a rest area leaves Yoko behind, penniless and uncertain about her next move. Despite the uncertainty, she chooses to hitchhike to her hometown, where she encounters a diverse cast of characters as the funeral looms, set to take place the next day at noon.
